For marketers of hotels, membership clubs, attractions, retail destinations, coworking spaces and other experience-led brands.
You've spent the year prioritising the business and the brand you work on. Your review is the one conversation that's about you, and it shapes your next 12 months: where you focus, the projects you take on, and how your leader sees your growth. It deserves more than a quick look at your KPIs the night before.
Sound familiar?
If you're already asking yourself these questions, we'll work through them together
How do I pull my whole year together, not just the last few months?
If I rate myself highly, will it look arrogant? And if I rate myself lower, will they just agree?
How do I ask the questions I really want to ask, in a way that shows how I'm thinking about my growth?
What should my focus be next year, and how do I get my leader's input on it?
The reframe
Your review is a career conversation, and you can lead it
Most companies give you a KPI template and ask how you think you did. It's a useful starting point, but it isn't preparation. And when you're busy running the job right up to the end of the year, it's easy to walk in feeling a little uneasy, with only your most recent work front of mind.
When I sat on the other side of the table, one thing was always true. As a leader, you don't remember everything each person did across the year, especially with several people reporting to you. So the marketers who prepared, who came in with the full picture of their year and their own ideas about what came next, gave me far more to work with. Those conversations went further for both of us.
A working session
A working session, with a leader's guidance at every step
This is a hands-on virtual workshop. Bring a coffee (or a glass of wine, depending on your time zone), open your workbook, and do the preparation live.
Together, we'll:
- See your review through your leader's eyes: what they listen for, what impresses them, and why a balanced view of your own capabilities matters.
- Complete Your Impact Map, a framework that looks across your whole year through seven lenses, so you find the wins you've forgotten and see where your next focus could be.
- Turn your wins into your KPI evaluation and your overall statement, and rate yourself in words, backed by evidence.
- Prepare to talk about what didn't go to plan, with self-awareness and a plan rather than an apology.
- Prepare the questions you really want to ask, in a way that shows a leader you've thought about them.
- Plan how you'll lead the conversation about your growth next year, and what to agree before you leave the room.
Whether you're two years into your career or twelve, the process works for you.
What you'll walk out with
Three things to take into your review
Your wins
Your Impact Map
With the wins from your whole year drawn out.
Your plan
Your plan for the conversation
Including the focus you want to discuss for next year.
Your questions
Your key questions
Each with your own starting point.
And a completed workbook you can keep coming back to through 2027, so your next review is easier to prepare for. Most of all, you'll walk into your review prepared and looking forward to it.
Your guide
Guided by a leader who's run the reviews
I'm Eve Weatherburn, a former Vice President of Marketing and Brand Management for global hotel groups.
For years I sat on the other side of the review table. I ran the annual reviews, chose who led major projects and recommended marketers for promotion. Some of my favourite conversations were the career discussions. In one of them, a manager in my team told me they were interested in working internationally, and I was able to create that opportunity for them. I'd never have known if they hadn't said it.
I can't change your rating, because that comes from the work you've done this year. What I can do is help you prepare, so the conversation does justice to your year and sets up the next one.

Questions
Before you book
My company doesn't do a formal review. Is this still for me?
Yes. The preparation works for an informal check-in, or for asking your leader for a review.
What if I can't make any of the times?
You'll get the replay for 12 months, and the workbook to complete in your own time.
I'm two years into my career. Is it too early?
No. The process works whether you're two years in or twelve.
